Children's Lessons

 

Our lessons have been designed to give children a sense of responsibility in the kitchen, to allow them to understand the fundementals of cookery whilst enjoying creating dishes from scratch.
All lessons are taught in our purpose built kitchen, in a safe and controlled environment. No more than four children are permitted in each class and handling of all hot items are carried out by the teacher. When you drop your children off you are more than welcome to see where they will be working, giving you full peace of mind.

Full use of the kitchen equipment, ingredients and aprons included.

 

 

Private Cupcake Lessons

 

In this 3 hour private lesson you and a friend will learn how to follow cake recipes, understand the ingredients used and the tips and tricks of good bakery by making a batch of cupcakes each. You will use different skills to produce 12 beautifully decorated cupcakes to take home to impress your friends and family. The private course is great as a birthday present for your child, or a special treat with a sibling or friend. Cupcakes designs can be tailored for the children and their interests.

For children aged 9 years upwards.
Two sessions each saturday; either 10-1pm or 2-5pm.
Classes of two.
Price: £45 per person, or two friends for £75.

5 Week Basic Children's Cookery Course

 

In this 2 hour weekly course you will learn the basics of cooking at home, the importance of ingredient selection, use, storage and proper preparation and you will gain the skills to create a new dish each week in our purpose built, safe kitchen in Wraxall. Covering soups, starters and salads, pasta suppers, healthy lunchboxes and cupcakes, this course will provide an introduction to creating a meal from start to finish, helping you to understand how meals are made and how to be independant in the kitchen.

For children aged 11 upwards.
Courses run on either a Wednesday or Thursday night from 5-7pm.
Classes of four.
Price: £100 for the 5 week course.

Festive Cupcakes Lesson

 

In this 3 hour lesson you will learn how to follow cake recipes, understand the ingredients used and the tips and tricks of good bakery by making a batch of cupcakes. You will use different skills, including sugar paste modelling, piping, edible decorations, frosting and icing, to produce 12 beautifully decorated festive cupcakes to take home to impress your friends and family, or make for Christmas gifts.

For children aged 9 years upwards.
Two sessions each saturday; either 10-1pm or 2-5pm.
Classes of four.
Price: £45 per person, or two friends for £75.

Course during November 2009, December 2009.

 

 

Christmas Cake Lesson

 

In this two hour lesson you will learn how to smoothly cover a cake with marzipan and icing, create festive icing cake toppers such as snowmen, stars, christmas trees, flowers and Father Christmas, and finish a cake with piped royal icing decoration. You will take home a fully finished 6 inch Christmas Cake with board and box to impress your friends and family.

For children aged 9 years upwards.
Saturday mornings from 10-12 or Wednesday mornings during the Christmas Holidays.
Classes of four.
Price: £40 per person, or two friends for £70.

Winter Treats lesson

 

In this three hour lesson you will learn how to make different winter sweet treats such as Florentines, Chocolate Dipped Strawberries, Cranberry Tiffin, Chocolate Brownies and Cashew Brittle. Make any of these at home as Christmas gifts for your friends and family.

For children aged 9 years upwards.
Two sessions each saturday; either 10-1pm or 2-5pm.
Classes of two.
Price: £45 per person, or two friends for £75.

Mini Chefs Lesson

 

Introduce your little ones to the fun elements of bakery in this safe environment. Covering cookies and cupcakes, this course is a great introduction to cooking and a fun activity to keep your little one's entertained.

Two age ranges: 4-6 and 6-9.
Each monday from 4-6pm.
Classes of four.
Price: £20 per person.

Ghosts and Ghouls CUpcakes Lesson

 

In this 3 hour lesson you will learn how to follow cake recipes, understand the ingredients used and the tips and tricks of good bakery by making a batch of cupcakes. You will use different skills, including sugar paste modelling, piping, edible decorations, frosting and icing, to produce 12 beautifully decorated Halloween cupcakes to take home to impress your friends and family, or make as gifts.

For children aged 9 years upwards.
Two sessions each saturday during October; either 10-1pm or 2-5pm. Or on Tuesday and Wednesday between 10-1pm during October Half Term.
Classes of four.
Price: £40 per person, or two friends for £70.

Adult Lessons

 

As well as an extensive range of Children's Lessons, we also hold Private Adult Lessons teaching you how to make sugarcraft fondant roses, fondant models for on top of cakes, covering cakes and finishing techniques as well as wedding specific cake decorations and how to make cupcakes for special diets, such as gluten-free, egg-free and dairy-free. The benefit of having Private Lessons is that the lesson can be tailored around excatly what you want to learn. Lessons are great for a group of friends on an evening where we provide the wine so everyone has a grand time!

 

2 hour lesson (decorating only) cost £50 per person or £80 for two if you bring a friend.

3 hour lesson (baking and decorating) cost £60 per person or £100 for two if you bring a friend.
